On July 14, 2023, two faculty members and 15 students from University of Twente visited the Institute of Industrial Science (IIS), the University of Tokyo. In the large seminar room of Building D, Prof. Okabe, Mr. Niels Hakkert, a doctoral student from University of Twente, and Prof. Guido Mul introduced their respective organizations and research activities. Afterwards, Prof. Ouchi,  gave a tour of the Okabe Laboratory and the Central Workshop. At the  Okabe Laboratory, visitors interacted with various rare metals and ores, and were introduced to the experimental equipment for the high-temperature pyrometallurgical processes. At the Central Workshop, Assistant Plant Manager Mr. Yoshihiro Itakura, a Technical Specialist, gave a tour of the plant and explained the various facilities. Finally, Prof. Kazuhiko Hirakawa of the IIS gave a presentation on the clean room facility. The tour was lively with many insightful questions from the students of University of Twente.
